Wayne State College Keyboard Ensemble Video

Here is a video of our Wayne State College Keyboard Ensemble rehearsing "Romp", composed by Phillip Keveren. It is far from perfect, but I am really proud of them. We're still working on the piece, obviously!

BACH collaborative project

Here is a website for Tim Smith. http://bach.nau.edu/
He has created interactive hypermedia online (with generous support from the Hinkle Charitable Foundation). What this means, is you can click on a composition and you will see the score and hear the recording. The score will highlight and move as the recording plays, so you can see what is being played. It is, quite simply, amazing. You should check it out. Click on "Showcase" to find the compositions.

Yamaha Mark IV

I just attended Jennifer Snow and George Litterst's presentation on distance teaching using the Yamaha Mark IV piano. It was very interesting, and I'm looking forward to Yamaha's release of their Remote Learning system, as well as Timewarp Technology's Internet MIDI software.

Here is Jennifer teaching a University of Colorado-Boulder student, live, in the session using iChat and the Yamaha Mark IV.

CMS and ATMI in Salt Lake City

I'm sitting here at the College Music Society (CMS) and Association for Technology in Music Instruction (ATMI) conference in Salt Lake City. The city is beautiful, but I'm somewhat biased since I grew up here. It's great to come back again.

Yesterday I attended the ATMI Technology Boot Camp. It was inspiring and overwhelming at the same time. So much is being explored using online instruction, including Second Life, Course Management Systems, blogging, podcasts, and social networking sites. I'm excited about incorporating some of these ideas into my teaching.

Over the next few days, I will be posting photos, video, and other information related to the conference.

Welcome to Piano Pedagogy Online!

Welcome to the new Piano Pedagogy Online website. Currently, it is a simple blog where I will post music, video, and text related to piano teaching and performing. Hopefully, it will evolve to much more.

I hope you find it helpful. If you would like to leave a comment, please do!
